Blepharoplasty: what recovery looks like day by day

Blepharoplasty is one of the facial procedures with the best balance between result and recovery. Even so, it is worth knowing what to expect.

The first three days

These are the most swollen. Relative rest, a raised head position and scheduled cold compresses are recommended. There is no significant pain: most patients describe a feeling of tightness rather than pain.

From the first to the second week

  • Between the fourth and seventh day the stitches are removed and the swelling drops noticeably.
  • Many patients return to work from that point, especially if they can wear sunglasses.
  • By two weeks any remaining bruising is usually easy to cover with make-up.

The final result

It becomes apparent between the third and sixth month, once the scars have matured and are practically invisible within the eyelid crease.
