Maxillofacial surgery
Orthognathic surgery
Placing the jaws where they belong. The aesthetics follow.
Orthognathic surgery corrects the position of the upper jaw and the mandible when the bones do not fit together and orthodontics alone cannot resolve it. It is a functional surgery with a profound aesthetic impact.
The approach
Three-dimensional virtual planning based on a facial scan and a CBCT. Bone movement is simulated before entering the operating room and custom surgical guides are manufactured, which shortens surgery time and increases precision.
Recovery
A one or two-night hospital stay. A soft diet for four to six weeks and a typical return to work after two or three weeks.
Who it's for
- Open bites, crossbites or marked mandibular retrusion.
- Patients with dental wear, joint pain or chewing difficulty.
- Cases involving the upper airway and poor-quality sleep.
The process
01
Joint diagnosis
Study coordinated with the patient's treating orthodontist.
02
Presurgical orthodontics
Dental preparation phase, usually lasting twelve to eighteen months.
03
Digital planning
Simulation of bone movement and manufacture of custom guides.
04
Surgery and follow-up
Brief hospital stay and close monitoring during the first weeks.
